Mika Penniman is a 26 year old London based singer/songwriter. He was born in Beirut, moved to Paris when he was 1 and eventually settled in London at the age of 8. Mika's childhood wasn't easy, he was bullied because he was different and dropped out of school when he was 11 to finally discover his passion; music. Facing rejection after rejection, Mika finally had his breakthrough in 2007 with his debut album Life in Cartoon Motion including the hits 'Grace Kelly' and 'Relax (Take it easy)'. Recently he returned with his sophomore album The Boy Who Knew Too Much including the anthem 'We Are Golden'. Love him or hate him, Mika has settled into your brain no matter what.
RAPPER Dizzee Rascal and pop favourite Mika are expected to be among the hottest musical tickets at this year’s Fringe.
They are among the headliners of the Edge Festival, the Fringe music programme created by DF Concerts, organiser of T in the Park.
Dizzee Rascal, a former Mercury Music Prize winner, will be appearing at the Corn Exchange just months after it was revealed he was to have his life story published by Edinburgh firm Canongate. He has had three No1 singles in the past two years and won Best British Male Solo Artist at this year’s Brit Awards.
Mika, who sold more than five million copies of his debut album in 2007, will be appearing as part of the Picture House’s programme. Coral, Doves, Plan B, Little Feat, Avi Buffalo, Steve Mason, Beirut and Low Anthem will also be part of the Edge Festival’s line-up.
At the Queen’s Hall, Idlewild’s Roddy Woomble is set to appear in his new trio with John McCusker and Kris Drever.
Will Poulter, best-known for the film Son of Rambow, is to appear in the all-teenage cast of School of Comedy at the Pleasance. He starred in the original production when it was a huge hit at the Fringe two years ago.
Harry Shearer, who has created voices including Mr Burns on The Simpsons, will be providing vocal talent for Lesbian Bathhouse, a late-night Hollywood-set comedy at the Assembly Rooms.
The official Fringe programme is due to be launched at midday today. The festival runs from 6-30 August.
After months of touring, the Imaginarium tour has officially come to an end yesterday in Lisbon. Mika posted on his twitter:
Thank you so much to everyone who came to see us on this tour. Over 230,000 tickets in two months. Last night in Lisbon tonight.

It is with great regret that Mika has had to postpone his Lisbon performance at Campo Pequeno – as everyone knows due to the Icelandic volcano eruption nearly all European flights have been cancelled and no matter what we tried it was impossible to get to Lisbon in time for the show.
